Teachers and Parents - Book any single educational experience at the Museum and your school may book any other experience in the 2007/2008 school year for free. Thanks to a donor with a special interest in heritage education at the Museum for making this offer possible.
Serving as the curricular foundation for all other museum offerings, these 90-minute
interdisciplinary programs provide students from Grades 9 to 12 with an experiential
orientation and introduction to the canoe in Canadian cultures, specific to their
chosen area of study.
Cost is $5.50 per student.
NEW!
Many People, Many Paths: This exciting historical simulation
provides students with the opportunity to become the various key players in Canada’s
fur trade. In costume and role, students must trade, barter, form allies and
share knowledge in order to succeed. This fully engaging experience elicits a
clearer view on Canada’s social and economic development.
The Evolution of an Idea: Easily tied to classroom lessons
and building projects, The Evolution of an Idea introduces students to the canoe
as a living meld of culture, design and technology.
Canoe Literature: Canoe Lit’ takes students on a journey
of the imagination, exploring not only the diverse literature behind the canoe,
but also the connection between canoe and student as represented in poetry, prose
and song.
